4 Steps of Organizing Process

1. Identification and Division of Work:

One of the foremost works in the process of organizing is identifying and division of work according to the pre-determined plans.

Managers help to share all the activities with employees upon their specification, for this reason, confusion can’t happen in groups and works well. And the workload shares among the whole department.

2. Departmentalization:

After dividing and sharing the work activities and loads, those work which is identical is grouped together. This grouping method is named as departmentalization.

In an organization every department created by various criteria like as – territory and kinds of products, etc.

The creation of groups or departments can be done by most usually in two ways. Which are – (a) Functional Departmentalization, (b) Divisional Departmentalization

  • Functional Departmentalization: In this method, common functions related to the jobs of an organization are grouped in an indivisible department. For example, jobs related to marketing in grouped under the marketing departments.
  • Divisional Departmentalization: When an organization has various product lines (like – all FMCG company) then the creation of department is based on divisional departmentalization. One department has the responsibility of only one product.

For example, if an FMCG company product soaps or wheat, then production, marketing, sales of soaps grouped under in one department, it has also happened for wheat.

3. Assignment of Duties:

Assigning the workforce to different staff is necessary. When a department is formed, then the liability of this department has come on every individual’s shoulders.

Jobs are allocated for peoples according to the knowledge and skill to the best use of human capital. Managers employ those people who are capable of performing the assigned work well.

4. Establishing Reporting Relationships:

Organizing is the process of defining and grouping the activities of the enterprise and establishing authority relationships among them.

The allocation of the workforce is not enough to be a successful organization. In the last step of the organizing process, everyone has an indivisible responsibility of an organization according to their skills.

The relation between every single person of an organization helps you to create a better work environment. It also helps in coordination among several departments.
